Tours and Exploring Landmark Center

Please note public building tours will not take place on March 17, March 24 and March 31, 2024 (building closed for the Easter holiday).

Landmark Center offers public and private tours that range from a broad presentation of the building’s history and its beautifully restored courtrooms and Cortile, to tours tailored to the specific needs of the groups or individuals taking the tours.

Free guided tours* of Landmark Center, led by the knowledgeable guides from the Landmark Center Volunteer Association, are back on Sundays at 12:30pm. The public can join the tour by meeting at the Visitor Information Center on first floor at the 5th Street entrance. Reservations are not required. The tour last approximately 45 minutes. For groups of 10 or more, please book a scheduled group tour.

The building is also open all public hours for self-guided tours. Touring guides can be picked up at the Visitor Information Center. Those coming with larger groups (over 10 guests) are recommended to formally schedule the visit with the Landmark Center staff, in advance, in order for our staff to to check scheduled events and plan accordingly for a group visit.  For more information on scheduling a visit, please email or call 651.292.3237.

Guests must adhere to all building safety and visitor protocols that may be in place during a visit. We ask that visitors be respectful of scheduled events in the building and of other visitors and people who work professionally in the building who may be conducting business. Visiting groups are expected to be chaperoned appropriately, not interrupt activities going on in the building, and not allowed to roam around the building without supervision.

For those who are unable to visit us in person, we invite you to enjoy a historic and architectural virtual tour, accessible at the link below. The tour takes you through Landmark Center, formerly the “Old Federal Courts Building,” easily one of the most photographed buildings in St. Paul. Led by Visitor and Volunteer Services Associate Director Jenny Reinhard, you can learn about the architecture, historic events, and famous – and infamous – people who walked through Landmark Center’s doors since 1902.
