James Nutt, Jim Lammers, and Don Thomas have chosen a creative pause—an intentional return to sketching, drawing, and painting as a way to see the world more clearly. As Urban Observers, they give themselves permission to slow down, to play, and to truly notice. Through their individual perspectives, they explore the quiet stories found in everyday city life—each capturing moments that might otherwise go unnoticed.
Whether working in bustling streets or quiet corners, these three artists sketch in public, in the moment, and on location. Their styles are distinct, yet their shared curiosity and appreciation for observation unite them. This exhibition invites you to celebrate the art of looking closely, of finding beauty in the ordinary, and of seeing the world through three unique lenses.
